About Niki

Niki is a poet, a published author and behavior therapist who is happily challenged by the art of guiding the body-mind into harmony. She was first exposed to hatha yoga in 1999 and began a dedicated practice in 2004 while attending the University of South Florida where she studied social and cognitive psychology. Niki graduated in the top 2% of her class with an advanced Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

After college, Niki moved to Los Angeles and served as an Autism specialist and Clinical Behavioral Therapist for children and their caretakers. During this time, she also completed a 200-hour yoga teaching certification through Black Dog Yoga in Sherman Oaks and began leading classes in the fall of 2010. Niki received her 500-hour and E-RYT 200 teaching credential in the spring of 2013 under the guidance of Sigrid Matthews. This program includes an extensive, specialized anatomy training under the guidance of acclaimed yoga anatomy specialist, Leslie Kaminoff.

Her classes are designed from a blend of Hatha Yoga practices including vinyasa flow, ashtanga and restorative principles that focus on the therapeutic application of anatomical alignment and breath-driven movement. Niki views yoga as a sustainable support system for total well-being.

"I work the desk at Black Dog on Friday mornings when Niki teaches her Basics/Beginner’s class. I can tell you this: Niki truly cares about her students and their practice. She wants them to find freedom in their body, and peace and serenity in their life. She wants this for you, and for all of us. She’s not just a curly haired hippie chick with a curious soul; she’s the real thing, with enough experience on and off the mat to back it up." - A.C., Los Angeles
